Alopecia or hair loss may have hormonal (androgenical alopecia) or traumatic causes (burns…) and can be entirely or partially corrected through surgery. |

Hair loss but also the loss of other facial hair (eyebrows, moustache...) can be treated through surgery once an analysis (blood analysis, trichogram) has established whether the cause is hormonal. The analysis is performed to exclude anything which might require medical attention (various deficiencies....).
The procedure consists in transplanting strips of hair-covered skin on to the alopecic area or it can consist in hair grafts. Either mini-grafts (grafts carrying several hair shafts per graft) or micro grafts (carrying only one hair shaft) can be used. During any one session +/- 1000 to 2000 hairs can be grafted, and even more so in the case of a “mega-session”. Depending on the degree of alopecia several sessions may be required at three to four months’ intervals.
Every session takes place under local anaesthetic and takes 3 to 4 hours and will result in a few days work incapacity. The intervention is not painful and the long-term results are often spectacular.
